A: Solar power panels have a performance warranty of 25 years with a expected lifespan of 30 years or more. Inverters have a 5-10 year warranty but normally last up to 20 years as they are completely automatic and have no real moving parts. From a savings standpoint, the Net Metering law in 37 US states allows you to earn credit on any excess energy that your home solar panels produce. This is in addition to federal incentives and tax rebates for using renewable energy, be it solar or wind.
