why do conservatives disbelieve in global warming?

Q: why do they not believe our goverment about man made global warming

A: James wrote: "If world average temperatures are still below where they were in 1934-1940 why should we get exited about it." If that were the case, then I'd agree with you. But you are posting a complete falsehood that is easily disproved. According to every global temperature dataset, it is absolutely warmer (by about 0.5 C) now than it was in 1934 - 1940. All conservative do not disbelieve in global warming. Such generalized statements are usually wrong. While a notable greater percentage of self identified conservatives (as opposed to others) question global warming, there are many who accept it. Including Newt Gingrich, John McCain, and this group: http://www.rep.org/ The reason for more doubt among conservatives (than others) lies in their belief in an unregulated (or minimally regulated) free market and their fear than any governmental response to global warming would hurt business and thus the economy. While I generally agree with letting free markets flourish with limited government interference, in the case of a global problem (e.g. diseases, global warming, etc.) governmental involvement is necessary.
